Privacy Policy

Effective date: 31 December 2025

SUUQ ONLINE (U) LTD (“SUUQ”, “we”, “our” or “us”) operates the SUUQ classifieds and mini-shop platform (suuqonlineug.com) and related Android & iOS apps (together, the “Service”). This policy explains what data we collect, why, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

2. Data we collect

2.1 Account & profile data

  • Name, email, phone number and password-hash;
  • Country, preferred language and profile photo;
  • Saved searches, followed shops and notification preferences.

2.2 Listings & seller data

  • Content of ads you post (titles, descriptions, photos, prices);
  • Shop / business name, contact person and optional KYC details if you operate a verified SUUQ shop;
  • Billing details for paid promotions or subscription plans.

2.3 Device & usage data

  • Device model, OS version, app version, crash logs & diagnostics;
  • IP address, basic location (city / area), cookies and similar technologies;
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging push-token (for alerts and messages);
  • Log of actions such as views, clicks, chat opens and likes.

2.4 Messages & safety

  • Messages you send through SUUQ chat or contact forms;
  • Automatic scanning of messages and listings for spam, scams and prohibited items, using keywords and machine checks.

3. How and why we use your data

  • To run the platform – create accounts, show ads, manage chats, follow shops and keep your profile in sync.
  • To improve safety – detect fraud, fake accounts, impersonation and prohibited or non-halal listings.
  • To personalise your experience – show more relevant ads, categories and shops based on your activity.
  • To communicate with you – service emails, security alerts, important changes to our terms or policies.
  • With your consent – marketing emails, SMS, push notifications and optional personalised advertising.

If you use the in-app “Report” tools (for example, “Report seller” in a chat), we collect the information you provide in the report together with relevant account, device and message details. We use this to investigate fraud, scams, abusive behaviour and other violations of our rules, and to take action where needed (such as warning, blocking or suspending accounts).

4. Advertising & analytics

We may use analytics tools (for example Firebase Analytics) to measure app performance and understand how people use SUUQ. Where required, we ask your consent before using identifiers such as the advertising ID for personalised ads.

5. Push notifications

We send notifications for new chat messages, account activity, safety alerts and, if you agree, promotions. You can control notification categories in app settings or in your device settings.

6. Sharing of information

  • Between buyers and sellers – when you contact a seller or buyer, your profile name and phone (if shared) may be visible to them.
  • Service providers – hosting, analytics, crash reporting, SMS and email gateways.
  • Payment processors – only if you pay for promotions or subscriptions inside SUUQ.
  • Law enforcement – where required by Ugandan law or to protect users from fraud or harm.

We do not sell or rent your personal data.

7. Account & data deletion

You may delete your account at any time from the “Profile / Account” section or by contacting us. We will deactivate your profile and remove or anonymise personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records for legal, tax or security reasons.

When you delete your account, we may keep a minimal record of your deletion request (for example, the time of the request, your chosen reason, and basic technical information such as IP address and user agent) so that we can prevent abuse, comply with legal requirements, and demonstrate that we responded to your request.

8. Your rights

Subject to local law, you may access, correct, export or request deletion of your personal information, or object to certain uses. Contact privacy@suuqonlineug.com. We may verify your identity before processing requests.

9. Security

We use technical and organisational measures including HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect your data.

10. Children

SUUQ is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page and, for material updates, we may notify you in-app or by email.
